St Columba’s church was built in 1963. A thanksgiving Mass was celebrated, by Fr Neil Gallagher, on the evening of Friday 7th June 2013 to mark the Golden Jubilee of its opening.
The Dunkeld Diocese page for the Golden Jubilee notes “In his homily Fr Gallagher highlighted the life of St. Columba, the patron of the Parish, and the commitment of parishioners during the 50 years of the life of the parish. A reception for all present was held in the Church Hall after the Mass.”
A remarkable example of the life of this parish is the now over 11, 000 backpacks organised, packed and sent to some of the world’s poorest children by parishioners and friends of St Columba’s Kirkton via Mary’s Meals over the years.
